Harris Faulkner and Tony Berlin: A 23-Year Love Story That Defies Differences

After more than two decades of marriage, Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner and her husband, Tony Berlin, have become a quiet example of how love can thrive across differences — and how commitment, respect, and shared values can keep a relationship strong.

The couple first crossed paths in Minneapolis in the early 2000s, when both were working as journalists. Faulkner was at ABC affiliate KSTP, while Berlin anchored at the CBS network station across town. “We were competitors,” Faulkner told IN Kansas City. That didn’t stop Berlin from being intrigued when he saw her in a promotional clip. Fate intervened at a colleague’s birthday party — though not exactly in the way Faulkner had hoped.

“He showed up with a date!” she recalled with a laugh. “What do I do with that? In my mind, he was fired.”

Still, Berlin stayed in touch. It took six months in what Faulkner calls “the friend zone” before she finally agreed to go on a date with him. From there, their romance moved quickly. “We dated for a year, and in August of the next year, he proposed — on Lake Superior, in Duluth, on the warmest day that summer,” she said. The following spring, in 2003, they married in Arizona.

Two Faiths, One Family

While their professional worlds initially set them apart, their personal lives brought a different challenge: religion. Faulkner is a devout Christian Baptist, raised in a deeply faithful household. “My parents were very strong in their faith,” she told Faithwire in 2022, remembering how her mother taught her to pray as early as age two while her father, a combat pilot, served in Vietnam.

Berlin is Jewish, raised with his own traditions, beliefs, and rituals. For some couples, these differences can be a fault line. For Faulkner and Berlin, they became an opportunity to grow together.

“We’re sharing each other’s worship a bit,” Faulkner told CBN News. The couple chose to raise their two daughters, Danika and Bella, in a predominantly Christian home while also exposing them to Jewish customs. In practice, it means blending traditions at holidays and making faith a shared, daily habit. “We share every meal. We share a prayer,” Faulkner told The Washington Times. “There are things that are commonalities between us with our faith that extend far beyond any sort of divisions.”

Love and Respect Over Labels

Faulkner has always been candid about how much she values her husband’s role in her life. “I married a very, very great guy,” she told Poynter in 2015. “I call him my forever boyfriend. From the time I met Tony, he’s made me better.”

Berlin’s career eventually shifted away from on-air journalism toward public relations and media strategy, while Faulkner’s profile at Fox News grew. But the pair have maintained a partnership grounded in mutual respect, carving out family time despite demanding schedules.

Their differences in faith, culture, and even early professional rivalry have become part of the story they share with their daughters — a reminder that lasting love doesn’t require sameness.

A Marriage That Almost Didn’t Happen

Looking back, Faulkner admits that if she’d let first impressions dictate the outcome, she and Berlin might never have gone out at all. That first encounter at the party — with Berlin arriving on someone else’s arm — nearly put an end to the idea before it began.

But once they connected, they quickly discovered common ground beyond their careers. “We dated for a year,” Faulkner said, “and the next summer, he proposed.” The Arizona wedding was intimate, surrounded by family and friends, and marked the start of a marriage that has now lasted 23 years.

Still Going Strong

Two decades, two children, and countless career milestones later, Faulkner and Berlin continue to defy the odds. They’ve navigated differences in religion, demanding professional lives, and the everyday challenges of raising a family in the public eye. Through it all, they’ve remained steadfast in their commitment to one another.

“I married an amazing guy,” Faulkner told People in 2019. “I couldn’t do it without [him].”

In a world where marriages — especially high-profile ones — often make headlines for the wrong reasons, Harris Faulkner and Tony Berlin’s story stands out as one built on patience, shared values, and a willingness to embrace differences rather than erase them.

Love, as their journey shows, is less about aligning on every detail and more about committing to walk side by side, even when the paths you’ve walked to get there look very different.
