WASHINGTON — Barron Trump, the 19-year-old son of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, is “actively exploring” Christianity and may be on the cusp of a conversion, according to a pastor who says he recently spoke with the first son in the middle of the night.

In a Dec. 4 episode of The George Janko Show, Pastor Stuart Knechtle — a Connecticut megachurch figure best known for viral TikTok videos — claimed he received a 12:30 a.m. phone call from Barron to discuss evidence for God, Christianity, and religious conversion stories.

Knechtle said he delivered what he believed was a compelling, wide-ranging argument for Christianity:

“I thought I was hitting him with everything but the kitchen sink,” he said.
“I was really on. I was pumped.”

But, the pastor admitted, Barron didn’t seem moved by most of it — with one exception.

The “Dream Conversions” Story That Reportedly Caught Barron’s Attention

Knechtle claimed the first son perked up when he shared a story about a missionary friend in Africa who allegedly witnessed “thousands of Muslims coming to Christ through dreams and visions.”

According to Knechtle, Barron responded:

“Oh, that’s a very, very interesting point. And you have eyewitness testimony.”

The pastor told host George Janko that this detail “stuck” with Barron, calling it evidence that the young Trump “really thinks deeply” and evaluates religious claims analytically.

He then made the bold assertion:

“He is very close to putting his faith in Christ.”

Janko replied, “I pray that goes through.”

Knechtle did not provide the date of the alleged call.

White House and Melania Trump’s Office Decline Comment

PEOPLE magazine has reached out to Knechtle and to Melania Trump’s office — which handles inquiries about Barron — but neither has commented.

Barron, who remains largely private and rarely makes public appearances, has long been shielded from political and media pressures by his mother. Since entering college, he has kept an extremely low profile.

Barron’s Background and Faith Traditions

Barron, an NYU sophomore who recently transferred from the Manhattan campus to NYU’s Washington, D.C., branch, is reportedly living in the Executive Residence at the White House this semester.

His family’s religious background is diverse:

Donald Trump was raised Presbyterian and now identifies as nondenominational Christian.

Melania Trump, the only Catholic first lady since Jackie Kennedy, is described as deeply religious but very private.

Barron’s own faith life has never been public, and the family has consistently requested privacy around his personal development.

Why This Is Making Headlines

The story ignited immediate reaction across social media and Christian circles — both because Barron remains a largely mysterious figure, and because a pastor publicly revealed details of what he describes as an intimate spiritual conversation with the first son.

As Barron keeps a low profile during his time in Washington, D.C., this rare glimpse — if true — offers a window into what one pastor claims is the 19-year-old’s developing religious identity.

Whether the pastor’s account is accurate, embellished, or premature remains unverified.
