Fans tuning in to The View this week may have noticed one seat consistently empty: Alyssa Farah Griffin’s. The 35-year-old co-host, who is expecting her first child, has been missing from the Hot Topics table since Monday—and now she’s sharing why.

In an Instagram Story posted midweek, Griffin explained that she’s been battling a rough stomach virus.

“Hey guys! I’ve been down sick with a stomach virus, but will hopefully be back on @theviewabc tomorrow,” she wrote alongside a woozy-face emoji.
“It’s no fun being sick while 6 ½+ months pregnant! Remember it’s that time of year — be smart, use hand sanitizer, stay home if you’re sick!”

Her colleagues quickly sent well-wishes. Whoopi Goldberg gave Alyssa a shout-out during Wednesday’s broadcast, telling her to “get better soon” as the panel carried on without her.

A Pregnancy Years in the Making

Griffin revealed in October that she and her husband, Justin Griffin, are expecting a baby boy in February 2026 after undergoing five rounds of IVF.

Speaking to People, she shared the mix of joy and nerves that comes with a long-awaited pregnancy:

“Baby Griffin is on the way and we’re just so excited — and terrified.”

She also joked about soon being the only woman in a house full of boys—including their two male dogs.

The couple, who married in November 2021, have been open about their fertility journey. Alyssa has repeatedly praised Justin for being her anchor through years of treatments, early morning appointments, and emotional hurdles.

“First and foremost, I have the best partner in the world… like they say, marry your best friend, and Justin is mine.”

Justin echoed the sentiment, telling People that he has “always wanted to be a father.”

Earlier this month, Alyssa posted a tender photo of Justin resting a hand on her baby bump with the caption:

“Grateful for our growing family 💙.”

Behind the Scenes at The View

Despite the demanding pace of live television, Griffin has credited the show’s schedule with allowing her to attend fertility treatments and prenatal appointments.

“‘The View’ is hard work, and luckily I had the flexibility of the schedule to make early morning appointments in Midtown before racing to do the show.”

Her temporary absence this week is expected to be short-lived. As long as her recovery continues smoothly, sources say she plans to return to the table in the coming days.
