Sarah Paulson Spills on Hilarious On-Set Moment With Kim Kardashian: “I Spit a Potato Chip on Her Face!”

Sarah Paulson: “I'm 44 years old and I'm not just playing someone's mother or wife”

Looks like Kim Kardashian and Sarah Paulson couldn’t keep their “rival” energy going off-screen!

While the two play enemies in Ryan Murphy’s highly anticipated new series All’s Fair, premiering November 4 on Hulu, it turns out their real-life dynamic was far from frosty. In fact, it was downright hilarious — and just a little bit messy.

During the show’s Los Angeles premiere on October 16, Paulson recounted one unforgettable on-set moment that perfectly summed up their chemistry. “I was screaming in her face so much I spit a potato chip on her cheek,” the Emmy-winning actress told E! News’ Erin Lim Rhodes with a laugh. “There is video of this — which we’ve been begging Ryan [Murphy] to release — of us laughing so hard that I think we started choking.”

Paulson explained that the incident happened during one of the show’s most intense confrontations. She was deep in character, shouting at Kardashian during a heated exchange, when a small chip suddenly launched from her mouth and landed on Kim’s face.

“She was trying to keep it together,” Paulson recalled, “but I couldn’t. We completely broke.”

Although the hilarious mishap didn’t make it into the final cut, Paulson admitted it was “pretty excellent television.” She joked that she and co-star Naomi Watts are “the worst” when it comes to breaking character on set — but in this case, even Kim struggled not to laugh.

All’s Fair marks Kim Kardashian’s biggest scripted role since her appearance in American Horror Story: Delicate (also a Ryan Murphy production). In the new legal dramedy, she stars opposite Paulson and Watts as ambitious women navigating power, privilege, and passion in a high-stakes Los Angeles law firm.

Despite Kim’s limited acting experience, her co-stars have been full of praise for her professionalism and natural charisma. “Obviously she’s comfortable in front of the camera,” Watts told E! News. “But working with text and a character that has an emotional arc — that was very, very impressive. She’s a hard, hard worker. A fast learner. She was dedicated, focused, on time, and also multi-tasking.”

Paulson echoed those sentiments, revealing that Kim dove headfirst into the project with total commitment. “She was so present and generous,” Paulson said. “It didn’t feel like I was acting opposite someone new. She showed up every day ready to play.”

Kardashian herself seemed touched by the praise, admitting she was overwhelmed by her co-stars’ kindness and support. The series — which also stars Glenn Close, Niecy Nash-Betts, and Teyana Taylor — has already generated massive buzz ahead of its debut, thanks to its powerhouse cast and Murphy’s signature mix of glamour, satire, and chaos.

If the behind-the-scenes stories are any indication, All’s Fair won’t just deliver drama on screen — it’ll also serve up some unexpected laughter. And maybe, just maybe, that elusive “potato chip” footage will make its way to fans one day.
