A Love Story That Endures

Hollywood icon John Travolta continues to honor the love of his life, Kelly Preston, four years after her passing. Kelly died in 2020 at the age of 57 following a private two-year battle with breast cancer. Since then, Travolta has regularly shared touching tributes, keeping her memory alive through heartfelt messages and family moments.
Travolta and Preston were married in 1992 after a romantic proposal at the Palace Hotel restaurant in Gstaad, Switzerland. Together, they welcomed three children: Jett, Ella Bleu, and Benjamin.
Tragedy struck the family in 2009 when their eldest son Jett passed away at age 16, and in July 2020, Kelly lost her battle with cancer.
“She was a bright, beautiful, and loving soul who cared deeply about others and who brought life to everything she touched,” a family representative said at the time of her passing.
Travolta shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, thanking medical staff and friends who supported them throughout Kelly’s illness:
“My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side. Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered.”
A Birthday Tribute in Song
Every year, John Travolta marks Kelly’s birthday with a special message. This year, on October 13, which would have been Kelly’s 62nd birthday, he decided to do something even more meaningful — share a newly recorded song in her honor.
In a touching Instagram Reel, Travolta wrote:
“I recorded this song for Kelly, and I want to share it with you all on her birthday. Happy birthday Kelly, we love you,” signing the message with his name and their children, Ella and Ben.
Travolta performed the classic “Come Rain or Come Shine,” singing:
“I’m gonna love you like nobody’s loved you / come rain or come shine / high as a mountain and deep as a river / come rain or come shine. I guess when you met me it was just, just one of those things.”
“But don’t you ever bet me because I’m gonna be true if you let me. You’re gonna love me like nobody’s loved me / come rain or come shine / happy together, unhappy together.”
Fans Moved to Tears
Fans flooded the comments with emotional reactions to the tribute, praising Travolta’s vulnerability and love for Kelly:
“I can feel how much you love and miss your beautiful Kelly. What a beautiful tribute! I’ve always loved your voice,” one fan wrote.
“Sweet and beautiful, her smile it’s forever,” another added.
“John, this is so beautiful. Brought tears to my eyes,” a third commenter said. “Thank you so very much for sharing your heart and love for Kelly… that’s a wonderful song.”
