Bobby Bones Calls Out Hilaria Baldwin’s DWTS “Bullying” Claims: “You Got Voted Off, Not Bullied Off”

American Idol': Bobby Bones Won't Return As In-House Mentor For Season 20

Bobby Bones has a few thoughts about Hilaria Baldwin’s recent comments on Dancing With the Stars — and he’s not holding back.

The radio host and former DWTS champ weighed in after Hilaria claimed she was “bullied off” the show following her October 7 elimination. And in true Bobby fashion, his response came with a mix of empathy, honesty, and a little country bluntness.

“You Don’t Get Bullied Off the Show”

Hilaria Baldwin On 'Dancing With The Stars' Exit: "I Did Get Bullied Off The Show"

“I was reading about Hilaria Baldwin saying she was bullied off Dancing With the Stars,” Bobby said in an October 13 TikTok. “As somebody who was treated like crap by the hardcore fans of the show — yeah, bullying happens. But you don’t get bullied off the show. You get kicked off the show because nobody voted for you.”

Bobby, who competed on season 27 of the show alongside pro Sharna Burgess (and went on to win that year), said he could relate to the hate that sometimes comes with being on the reality competition.

“I was bullied like crazy,” he admitted. “But I still got votes that took me to the end.”

Then came the line that had fans talking:

“That’s bull crap. She was a great dancer. She came in with a ton of dance experience, obviously. But no, no, no — you didn’t get bullied off the show. You got eliminated because people didn’t like you.”

The Harsh Truth About DWTS Fans

While Bobby’s take was firm, he also acknowledged that Dancing With the Stars has one of the most passionate — and sometimes toxic — fan bases in reality TV.

“That’s the meanest fan base of anything ever,” he said. “Dancing With the Stars, the hardcore fans — bad people. People that vote and love the show and have a good time, you guys are cool. But the hard cores? Bad people.”

It’s not the first time a contestant has spoken out about online criticism from DWTS viewers. Over the years, many stars — from athletes to actors — have described the intense scrutiny that comes with competing on the show. Still, Bobby’s point was clear: harsh comments might sting, but eliminations come down to votes, not bullies.

What Happened With Hilaria

Hilaria, who’s married to actor Alec Baldwin and mom to seven children — Carmen (11), Rafael (10), Leonardo (8), Romeo (7), Eduardo (4), María Lucía (4), and Ilaria (2) — was eliminated during the show’s Disney Night episode.

She and her partner Gleb Savchenko performed a Star Wars-themed dance but failed to secure enough votes to stay in the competition. At the time, Hilaria appeared to take the elimination in stride, smiling alongside Gleb and thanking fans for their support.

However, days later, she shared on social media that she felt “bullied off” the show, pointing to negative comments and online trolling as reasons for her exit.

Bobby’s Reality Check

While Bobby said he doesn’t personally know Hilaria, he made it clear he didn’t buy her explanation.

The Truth About Hilaria Baldwin's 'Fake' Spanish Accent

“She was a good dancer,” he reiterated. “But people just didn’t connect with her. That’s how the show works.”

Fans in the comments section of Bobby’s TikTok were quick to chime in — some agreeing with his take, others defending Hilaria. “Bobby is just being honest,” one user wrote. Another replied, “He’s right — DWTS voting is brutal.”

Whether you side with Hilaria or Bobby, one thing’s certain: Dancing With the Stars continues to spark drama long after the ballroom lights go out.

And if there’s one takeaway from Bobby Bones’ blunt reality check, it’s this — sometimes, in the dance of TV fame, the toughest step is facing the music.
