Suzanne Somers’ Husband Alan Hamel Creates AI Clone 2 Years After Her Death

Years after Suzanne Somers died, her husband Alan Hamel revealed that he’s currently developing an AI clone of the Three’s Company alum.

Alan Hamel is immortalizing his love.

Two years after Suzanne Somers died following a battle with breast cancer, her husband revealed that he is creating an artificial intelligence version of the Three’s Company actress.

“Obviously, Suzanne was greatly loved, not only by her family, but by millions of people,” Hamel told People in an interview published Oct. 21. “One of the projects that we have coming up is a really interesting project, the Suzanne AI Twin.”

Hamal—who was married to Somers from 1997 until her 2023 death at age 76—decided to take the leap after seeing an AI demo at a conference earlier this year.

“It was Suzanne,” he explained. “I asked her a few questions and she answered them, and it blew me and everybody else away. When you look at the finished one next to the real Suzanne, you can’t tell the difference. It’s amazing.”

“I’ve been with Suzanne for 55 years, so I know what her face looks like,” the 89-year-old continued, “and when I just look at the two of them side by side, I really can’t tell which one is the real and which one is the AI.”

The Anniversary Game host—who began dating Somers’ Hollywood Wives costar Joanna Cassidy in June—revealed that the AI had used the health and wellness guru’s 27 books and hundreds of her interviews to accurately capture her likeness and speech.

E! News has reached out to Hamel for comment and has not yet heard back.

Although the plan is just now taking shape, he and the Serial Mom star—mom to her and ex-husband Bruce Somers‘ son Bruce Somers Jr., 59—had discussed the idea since first learning of its potential in the 1980s.

“It was Suzanne’s idea,” Hamel recalled. “She said, ‘I think it’ll be very interesting and we’ll provide a service to my fans and to people who have been reading my books who really want and need information about their health.’”

Although the Nothing Personal producer—who shares kids Leslie Hamel and Stephen Hamel with ex-wife Marilyn Hamel—was concerned about his family’s reaction, they were on board with the idea.

“I feel really good about being able to deliver what Suzanne wanted and doing so that it’ll be something that basically will, should, go on for generations,” he explained. “I think our family loves the idea, really loves the idea. We’ve talked about it a lot.”

As Hamel navigates the latest chapter of his relationship with Somers, he’s grateful to have Cassidy by his side.

Suzanne Somers' Husband Explains Why He Didn't Expect to Outlive Her

“I’m fortunate to have Joanna in my life,” he told Page Six in June. “Most men would love to have a Joanna in their life. I do not know where this relationship is going, but what I do know is that being in the cocktail hour of my life, I am blessed with a magnificent family—thanks to incredible Suzanne —a privileged life, and our business that we created 50 years ago.”

Although it wasn’t easy to begin a new relationship after nearly 40 years with Somers, he recalled the advice she gave him prior to her death.

“‘Don’t mope around,’” he recalled of her blessing. “‘Live your life. We will see one another after you cross over.’”
